Possible "Christmas Persecution" of Christians in India

December 18, 2014 Sam Logan: Colleagues in the World Reformed Fellowship: I have just received an urgent prayer request from one of our members living and ministering in India. That request is below. Please do pray as requested. Thanks so much. Sam Dr. Samuel Logan International DirectorThis email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Sam - Ever since the new government came into power in India this year with an overwhelming majority there have been real positive signs of change and growth.  And for this we are thankful. However, there is also need for prayer.  The religious minorities, Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists, etc. are beginning to feel insecure. Just in the last two weeks poor Muslims were 're-converted' to Hinduism.  A similar event, we hear, is planned for 'Christians' on Christmas Day 2014.  We cannot be sure whether this will happen or not Even more alarming is the suggestion from the majority that Christmas Day (which happens to be the birthday of a former prime minister of the ruling party) be declared 'Good Governance Day.'  This could mean that school children would have to be involved in projects around this theme on Christmas Day - a day that so far has been a public holiday.  (The results of such a decision are unthinkable for Christians, for whom Christmas is a time of joyful celebration and worship.) This last issue is heavily debated in the media and though promoters of the ruling party have tried to downplay the issue, saying it is a voluntary exercise, voices in the opposition parties and the media have rallied behind Christians against this proposal. We need your prayers!  Blessings!!
