Teaching the Artful Grace of Contemplative Prayer
For the past four years, our congregation has supported a ministry that teaches Christians the ancient disciplines of contemplative prayer.
Many evangelicals are unfamiliar with such forms of prayer, and a few dismiss it outright, but we have found contemplative prayer—in a way that is deeply biblical while learning from believers who have come before us—to be blessing to many. In addition, we have found this to be a unique outreach ministry to neighbors who are looking for a deeper spiritual reality but who often assume the church to be the last place they might find it. If anyone would like to know more, please contact me (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.). In our basic course, I teach the introduction—covering the biblical, theological, and historical roots of contemplative prayer—while the bulk of course is taught by a member of our congregation.
