Today, as in the past, we are faced with the enormity of the impact of the 2019 coronavirus disease pandemic (Covid-19). Everyone is worried because of the transmission that is so fast, simultaneous, and deadly. Covid-19 not only kills humans, but also destroys the economy to the extent that it might go as far as economic stagnancy.

The Covid-19 storm came just as Christians celebrated Good Friday and Easter Sunday. These two great days deserve to be momentum to rediscover the basis of our faith and hope.

On Good Friday, we commemorate the magnitude of God's love for us. So great was His love for humanity that He sacrificed His only begotten Son on the cross, dying to atone for our sins.

"For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish, but have eternal life." (John 3:16)

It seems that there is not a single human being on this earth, in various groups, who are not seized with fear of the clutches of Covid-19. There is no human on this earth who is not afraid of the terrible corona virus on the safety of his body and its effect on all aspects of human life, both at the local, national, regional and world level. Even more frightening, experts have not found a drug or vaccine to prevent it.

However, are we aware that sin and its grip are far more devastating than those of Covid-19? Isn't the power of sin far more terrible than Covid-19?

The fact is, not all people affected by Covid-19 end in death. Data shows, among those who are afflicted with this malignant virus, around 90-95% experience healing. The health of those who have had Covid-19 can recover.

However, the nature of sin and the power of sin are present in everyone who is born into the world without exception. The grip and power of sin is far more frightening than Covid-19's grip. Even more awesome, there is not a single thing in human beings and good deeds that can heal the nature of sin. The grip of the power of sin has an eternal, endless effect.

Therefore, let us again appreciate how great the grace of God has been to send His only begotten Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, to die on the cross. He who overcomes the power of sin that grips the lives of every human, which causes man to not get everlasting happiness.

The power of sin is far more terrible than the clutches of Covid-19 that we are currently afraid of. May God forgive us who have given a wrong assessment of the reality of life. We are far more afraid of Covid-19, which can only threaten the safety of the human body and in fact far more people are recovering than those who die. Meanwhile, at the same time, we do not show fear of the power of sin.

We do not appreciate His great love, which is expressed through the sacrifice of sacrifice. Willing to be miserable and die on the cross.

May God use the Covid-19 plague to bring us a better understanding of the ferocity of the power of sin. That, the power of sin is far more terrible than the corona virus problem that we are facing right now. Presumably through this fierce virus outbreak, we can all again appreciate His sacrifice on the cross.

May the bitter facts we are experiencing be able to direct the eyes of our hearts and minds to how great is the power of God and the mercy of His grace. May all experiences dealing with Covid-19 guide our hearts, minds, and deeds to focus more on the truth and live glorifying His holy name.
