Am I Responsible for My Husband’s Sexual Sin?

Over the last few weeks, I have had several conversations with wives who were feeling guilt-ridden. Each feared that failing to meet their husband’s expectations for sex would push their husbands to satisfy their desires in sinful ways. This fear might seem extreme, but the belief that wives are responsible for keeping their husbands from sexual sin is more common than you might think, so I want to draw attention to it.

Michael kept insisting that his viewing pornography wasn’t hurting anybody. “I’m divorced, and what else am I going to do with my sex drive?  This isn’t hurting me; it’s actually helping me.”

Brothers and Sisters in the Lord Jesus Christ - I think it is important for all of us, but especially for members and leaders of the World Reformed Fellowship, to be aware of this growing movement in support of “The Marriage Pledge.” This movement was sparked by sparked by the theological journal “First Things.”  I know personally many of those who are making this happen and I commend the pledge to all who are concerned about these matters.

 One of my first cases as a counseling intern in Philadelphia was with a 12-year-old girl who was cutting herself and involved in a lesbian threesome. I worked at the Christian Counseling Educational Foundation, and her mom brought her in along with a baby sister who crawled around the room and knocked over a floor lamp during our first session.
