WRF Board Chairman, Rick Perrin, Considers California's Latest Stupidity
A few days ago California Governor Jerry Brown signed into law a new provision for the public schools of California. The law mandates that children who are confused about their gender identity may use whichever restroom they feel comfortable in.
That means that if a boy believes that he is a girl, he may use the girl’s restroom. Presumably a girl could frequent the boys’ room (though I cannot see that happening a whole lot).
Has California completely lost its mind? It would appear so.
The rationale for this law is to reduce the frequency of bullying in regard to sexual preference. Does anyone seriously think that if a boy uses the girl’s room it will prevent him from being ridiculed or mocked by other boys? I’ll bet that is a guaranteed way to ramp up social disapproval!
Beyond that, what about the girls whose restroom this is? How do you think they will feel about walking into the girl’s room and finding a boy in there? Will they be comfortable? My guess is they will find the boy creepy and their dignity compromised. Can it be any other way?
I will tell you this, if I had a child in the California public schools, they’d be out of there on the first day of classes.
How does something so idiotic, so logically compromised, so morally bankrupt, get (A) passed by the state legislature, and then, (B) not promptly vetoed by the governor? How did California come to lose its last shred of common sense?
There is a verse in the book of Proverbs in the Bible that explains it pretty well. “Where there is no vision, the people are unrestrained.” (Proverbs 29:18) The word “vision” here literally means “revelation” in the original Hebrew. The vision or revelation that is referred to, here, means the revelation that has come from God. Or to put it another way, the Law that God has given.
The people of California may not like it, but God the Creator, objectively exists and he has revealed the laws by which his creation--human beings—will best prosper. Indeed, the next line in Proverbs 29:18 says, “Happy is he who keeps the law.” It makes sense when you stop to think.
Assuming, of course, that you don’t reject out of hand the overwhelming evidence that we are in fact created beings! Or that God knows best.
But if you do that, and cut yourself off from the wisdom of the Supreme Being, then every decision for everything you believe and do becomes your responsibility. And it doesn’t take long to lose your way. For the simple reason that you have no point of reference, no guiding principle, no north star, so to speak. And so you get a law that any moron can see is absurd. But you are so far gone that you don’t notice how dumb this is!
There is a word of hope, however, even for people in California. It is found two verses before this one we have been considering (verse 16). “When the wicked increase, transgression increases; but the righteous will see their fall.” The wicked will fall for two reasons: (1) the Creator will reassert reason at some point, and (2) because what the wicked decide to do just doesn’t work. It has a built-in collapse factor.
The wisest man in history (Solomon) wrote these words. Ignore them at your peril!
