Excellent Resources for Safeguarding Our Churches and Our Children from Sexual Predators

Jim Gamble is an outstanding leader in the world of those seeking to protect vulnerable individuals from sexual predators.  Jim spoke on this subject at the WRF conference in Potshefstroom, South Africa, in 2013, and at WRF General Assembly in Sao Paulo, Brazil in 2015.  Videos of both of those presentations are available on this website.

We have just received the message below from Jim and we post it here hoping that it will be of use to our members around the world.

Remember, according to Scripture, the devil is a roaring lion, seeking to devour anyone he can.  Jim and his company provide superb "defense weapons."

Thank you, Jim, for allowing us to post this material here.

Sam,

I am sorry it has taken me so long to get back to you.  We would really appreciate you sharing the information on this flagship event.  It is ideally suited to those in the faith community with responsibility for oversight of staff and or pastoral care.  It provides a deep insight into the vulnerabilities that make young people more susceptible to online radicalisation and grooming.  It also gives them a glimpse into the way predators think, the way they hide in plain sight and the tactics they use when challenged.

There are two other initiatives I think would be of interest to you and the church community.  The first relates to our Safeguarding in a Digital World Masterclass.  This is delivered using our SSNAP cards in an interactive workshop.  The Safer Social Networking Activity Pack (SSNAP) cards are finalists in the 2016 British education resource of the year awards.  This workshop enables those who work with children and young people to develop a practical understanding of the opportunities and challenges children and their carers face when using social media.

The second relates to our App resources.  You may remember I highlighted some of them when I spoke at your event in São Paulo.  We have been working hard to develop our framework so that we can provide low-cost access for our clients in the safeguarding and NGO sectors.  I have attached a link to our schools App page.

You will see that the functionality within the framework is ideal for church organisations and individual church communities or groups who want to share information and maintain routine contact with their congregation.

I hope you are keeping well and look forward to seeing you again soon.
