Providing Assistance for Those Affected By the Earthquake in Nepal
UPDATE: ANOTHER EARTHQUAKE HIT NEPAL ON TUESDAY, MAY 12. EARLY DETAILS HERE - http://www.cnn.com/2015/05/12/asia/nepal-earthquake/
ASSISTANCE NOW EVEN MORE URGENTLY NEEDED!
Note:
The World Reformed Fellowship is not equipped to do global relief work, even when the situations which call for such work are especially dire, as is the case with the recent earthquake in Nepal.
However, many of our members ARE equipped to do such work and, in line with our commitment "that the strengths of some might become the strengths of all in the service of Jesus Christ," we have determined to solicit from our members, specifically from our denominational members, information about how we ALL might join in providing actual assistance to those affected by disasters like the Nepal earthquake. On May 1, 2015, an e-mail was sent to all of our denominational members asking those members to let us know what they are directly doing or what they would recommend in this specific situation and, as appropriate, how the rest of us might support them in that work.
The responses that we have received are posted below in the order in which they were received. The photographs attached to this article were provided by our denominational members in Nepal.
If there are questions or concerns, please contact Dr. Samuel Logan, Associate International Director of the WRF, at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Dr. Samuel Logan Associate International Director The World Reformed Fellowship Respected Sir: Thank you so very much for your kind message and good information to get relief funds such a tragic incident and needs. Here can be no consolation that anyone can offer us in such a terrible situation like this but the loss of life can never be replaced whereas damage to buildings can at least be restored in time. We are very sorry that our homes and Church have been damaged.
As of today (May 11), 8024 have been confirmed killed, another 17,00 injured, and 160,786 homes destroyed. With respect to our own denomination (which is a a member of the WRF), we have a total of 12 Churches and 29 big Fellowships (Presbyterian Churches and Fellowships). Two Churches have badly damaged and other Churches only cracked. Four of our Fellowships have been destroyed and now have no place to worship. 2) About 100 of our members and their children have been displaced from their homes. Some of those homes have been totally destroyed and others have been damaged so badly that they are not safe to live in. 3) We give thanks to God because no members of our denomination were killed but a number were injured. The Government never gives for our destroyed churches and for needy Christian families. You know very well Nepal is a Hindu country. Therefore, we would kindly and wholeheartedly request you to help for Dhankuta District direct wire the funds in our Bank Account or Western Union Moneytransfer. We will send reports and pictures regarding the use of these funds to the Associate International Director of WRF, Dr. Samuel Logan. Some initial pictures are attached to this article.

Dear Pastors, Mission Leaders/Friends, and Prayer Partners:
Greetings from Nepal in the mighty name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
We are the Reformed Church of Nepal and we are a denominational member of the World Reformed Fellowship.
We are writing to request your assistance as we seek to respond to the earthquake which struck our country on 25 April. Rescue and aid workers in Nepal are struggling to cope with the scale of the devastation – digging through rubble by hand, performing surgeries in makeshift operating theaters, and scouring notoriously difficult terrain for more victims. But power blackouts in the capital city of Kathmandu, supply shortages and difficulties getting around have complicated the efforts. The United Nations has estimated that the disaster had affected 8 million people acrossthe Himalayan nation. Several million people are in need of food, water, shelter, and medical assistance.
Many Christians in mountain area as well as cities have died due to the collapse of their houses. Churches have been destroyed due to the earthquake. The entire family of the cook at our children’s home died due to the collapse of houses. We need your help urgently. Here is the information which you may use to wire funds directly into our bank account:
